Chandigarh, August 3

A total of 96.08 per cent polling was recorded in the elections of the principal of technical and professional colleges constituency, while 79.72 per cent polling was recorded for the elections of the staff of technical and professional colleges constituency on the Day 1 of the Panjab University Senate elections today.

The voting was held at 28 centres across Chandigarh and Punjab. A total number of 51 voters were listed for the constituency.

As many as 49 votes were polled for the elections of technical and professional colleges constituency. The elections of staff of technical and professional colleges constituency witnessed a total of 629 votes polled against 789 registered voters for the constituency.

The Panjab University governing body comprises 91 members, 47 of whom are elected from eight constituencies. The remaining are either nominated or ex-officio members. The four-year term of the previous Senate had ended on October 31, 2020.

The counting of votes for both technical and professional colleges constituency and staff of technical and professional colleges constituency will be held on August 5.
