The MC General House today revised the monthly door-to-door garbage collection rates. The measurement unit for the calculation of waste charges in urban residential properties has been changed from square metre to marla/kanal.

Charges

For less than 2 marla: Rs50
For 2-10 marla: Rs100
For 10 marla-1 kanal: Rs200
For 1-2 kanal: Rs250

For above 2 kanal: Rs350

Street vendors: Rs50
Traders: Rs200 and Rs800
As per the seating capacity, restaurants and hotels: Rs2,000—Rs5,000
Community centres and marriage palaces: Rs1,000 per event

In rural areas

Houses: Between Rs50 and Rs200
Shops: Rs100 | Eateries Rs200

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
