Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, said these unserviced areas included villages, pockets of some sectors and Mani Majra. More than 80 garbage-collection vehicles have been pressed into service besides non-mechanised rehris to collect garbage from narrow lanes in these areas.

She said areas such as Burail, Hallo Majra, Adarsh Colony, Butrela, Maloya, Industrial Area (Phase 2), Sector 42, 52 and others were being covered under the initiative from today.

Anindita said this step would not only facilitate the citizens but also result in the removal of garbage points, waste segregation at source, overall better waste management, giving the city a cleaner look. — TNS
