On December 9, the Mohali police had recovered the body of a youth from a Tata Tigor car in Nanu Majra village, Sector 82. The victim was identified as Jaspreet Singh, alias Billa, a resident of New Indira Colony, Mani Majra, Chandigarh.

He was allegedly eliminated by his three accomplices after an unsuccessful loot attempt at Shri Gold Testing Lab in Sector 23, Chandigarh. The suspects have been identified as Pargat Singh (29), a resident of Dhilwal village, Patiala, Navdeep Singh of Shadipur village in Patiala and Lovepreet Singh, alias love, of Nagoke village in Tarn Taran. All accused were residing at a flat in Ivory Tower, Sector 70, Mohali. While Pargat has been arrested, the other two are at large.
