Wife dies, man injured as car rams into truck in Mohali

Mohali, April 18

A 42-year-old woman was killed while her husband sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in hit a stationary truck near the Verka milk plant in Phase 6 here last night.

The deceased has been identified as Charanjit Kaur of Chandigarh. Her husband Sukhpal Singh, 45, escaped with minor injuries.

A case under Section 304-A, 283, 337 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the truck driver at the Phase 1 police station.

Phase 1 SHO Shivdeep Singh Brar said, “The couple was coming from the Kharar side in their car. A milk duty truck was negligently parked on the road, which the car driver failed to see due to darkness. The truck has been impounded.
