He stated that incidents of stabbing, snatching, drug abuse and anti-social behaviour were on the rise. In Sector 40, a youth was attacked with a knife in broad daylight, and the very next day, a poor street vendor was looted of Rs 7,000. He added that parks in the city had become haven for anti-social elements, and incidents of eve-teasing were common there.

City Congress president HS Lucky has also expressed deep concern over the ‘rapidly deteriorating’ law and order situation, particularly in colonies. He said there was an alarming increase in thefts, burglaries, assaults and murders. Growing drug menace was ruining the lives of youth, he added. He called for an immediate all-party meeting to discuss the law and order situation in the UT.
