Wishes poured in for Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda as he remained on ventilator support at a private hospital in Mohali after suffering severe head and spine injuries in a road accident.

Sharing a health update, the doctors said, “Jawanda is being closely monitored by the multidisciplinary team comprising neurosurgery and critical care specialists at Fortis Hospital.”

Punjab Chef Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited the hospital to inquire about the well-being of the 35-year-old singer. Mann discussed his medical condition with the doctors and lent support to the family.

“I pray to God that Rajvir returns home hale and hearty soon. His fans across the world are praying for his good health. Experts from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research were being consulted,” he said, adding, “I also request people not to spread rumours about his health on social media.”

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains took to social media to pray for the singer’s quick recovery, writing on ‘X’, “Just heard about the accident of Rajwinder Jawanda Veer. Praying to the Almighty for his safety and speedy recovery.”

Among other politicians, Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Leader of Opposition in the Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa also expressed concern and prayed for his well-being. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said, “Praying for his speedy recovery and good health. May Waheguru bless him with strength and healing.”

Sources privy to the matter said Jawanda’s mother went to pray and seek blessings at the late Sant Ajit Singh Hansaliwale Dera near Fatehgarh Sahib.

At Jawanda’s Pona village near Jagraon in Ludhiana, friends and relatives performed an ardas (prayer) for his quick recovery at a gurdwara.

Punjabi artistes including Gippy Grewal, Jass Bajwa, Kanwar Grewal, Mankirat Aulakh, Tarsem Jassar and Kulwinder Billa visited the hospital on Saturday to enquire about his condition.

Meanwhile, Babbu Mann, Diljit Dosanjh and others urged fans to pray for the singer’s well-being. Surjit Bhullar and actor-singer Ranjit Bawa, actor Sonia Mann also visited the hospital today and urged people not to spread rumours about his health.

Jawanda, best known for his hit songs “Kali Jawande Di”, “Tu Dis Penda”,“Khush Reha Kar”, “Sardari”and roles in Punjabi films, met with a road accident near Baddi when he and five of his friends heading to Shimla on a biking trip. He sustained serious head and spine injuries as a stray cattle blocked his way. He was rushed to a hospital in Solan where he also suffered a cardiac arrest before being shifted to the Mohali hospital.
