Woman arrested for committing sacrilege in Mohali's Devinagar village

A woman has been arrested for allegedly committing sacrilege at a village in Dera Bassi in Mohali district on Friday.

The 32-year-old Ranjit Kaur was apprehended by the granthi of a gurdwara in Devinagar village.

Dera Bassi police in-charge Satinder Singh reached the spot and started the investigation.

Police said the woman was a local and had been arrested.

Sources said the woman suffered from mental illness but the police were verifying the claims.

This is the second time that Guru Granth Sahib has been desecrated in the village, after the first incident in 2017. Police had arrested a mentally-disturbed youth for committing the act.
