Woman dies of snakebite

Mohali, August 2
A 47-year-old woman, resident of Bhagwanpur on Barwala road, died of snakebite on Wednesday evening. Family members said the victim Sunita was cutting fodder in the fields around 4pm on Wednesday when a snake bit her.
People from nearby houses tried homemade medical treatment but her condition started to deteriorate. A private vehicle was called to take her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, but due to waterlogging at the Zirakpur National Highway and the resultant traffic jam near the McDonald’s point, the emergency vehicle had to take a U-turn and reach Dera Bassi Civil Hospital for treatment where she died. Deceased is survived by his husband and two children.
