According to the police, complainant Ramphal Katharia, Labour Inspector, Chandigarh, reported that the child was rescued from the house in Sector 35. The minor was employed by house owner Balwinder Kaur as a domestic help. A case under Section 79 of the Juvenile Justice Act and Section 374 of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 36 police station. TNS
Two arrested under NDPS Act
Chandigarh: Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested under the NDPS Act. According to the police, Ashutosh Saini (28) of Phase XI, Mohali, was nabbed from near the gurdwara in Sector 52 with 5.8 gm of heroin. A case has been registered at the Sector 36 police station. In another case, Pooja of Sector 56 was arrested from near a sports complex with 22 banned injections. TNS
Temporary stalls for three days
Chandigarh: Shopkeepers or vendors who want to put up temporary stalls for three days during Lohri and other festivals will be able to do so by paying a nominal fee to the Municipal Corporation. According to the MC order, except no-vending zones i.e. Sector 1 to 6, Sector 17 and 22, stalls can be put up at all other place from January 11 to 13. Stalls for three days will also be allowed during other festivals, including Holi, Eid or Dasehra. TNS
One booked for raping minor
Kharar: A minor girl aged 17 was allegedly raped by a youth of the same village on Tuesday evening. The Kharar Sadar Police have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC and under the POCSO Act against Davinder Singh, a resident of Barauli village here. Kharar Sadar SHO Amandeep Singh said the mother of the victim complained regarding this to the police. The complainant said the suspects even threatened both of them to inform the police about this incident. The suspect is yet to be arrested. oc

Barara man held with heroin
Ambala: Under its ongoing drive against drugs, the district police have arrested Tejinder Singh, alias, Nonu of Barara and claimed to have recovered 50-gram heroin from his possession, the officials said here today. According to the police, the accused was signaled to stop at a check-post near bypass chowk in Barara and his search yielded the contraband. The accused was produced before a local court, which remanded him to three-day police custody, the officials added. TNS
Biker killed in road mishap
Ambala: A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run mishap in Mahesh Nagar here, the police said here today. The victim has been identified as Rishabh. According to information, Daleep Kumar of Mahesh Nagar had reported to the local police that the Rishabh was going on his motorcycle when an unknown speeding car hit him near Saket Hospital in Mahesh Nagar and fled the spot. The police have registered a case in this connection and launched a hunt to trace the killer car and its driver, the officials added. TNS
2 teenaged girls among 4 missing
Ambala: Four persons, including two teenaged girls, had reportedly gone missing from their respective places in separate incidents, the police said here today. Ashok Kumar of Shahzadpur near here had reported to the police that his 17-year-old daughter had left home on January 7 but did not return as yet. In another case, Rishi Pal of Mullana near here had reported that his 19-year-old daughter had been missing since January 7. In a separate case, Harwinder Singh had reported that his 33-year-old brother Gurwinder Singh had been missing January 4. In another incident, a woman of Barara near here had reported that her 41-year-old husband Rakesh Kumar had left home on November 14 last but did not return as yet. The police have lodged separate missing person’s reports and launched a manhunt to trace the missing persons, the officials added. TNS
