Chandigarh, January 8

A major tragedy was averted when a recklessly driven vehicle hit two other vehicles, including a car, outside Tender Heart School, Sector 33, this morning, leaving a woman Activa rider injured.

Eyewitness said a collision between two vehicles was witnessed, following which one of the cars turned turtle while another jumped on to the pedestrian path. Even as both the motorists escaped unhurt, a woman riding an Activa, which was also hit in the accident, was left injured.

The police were informed about the incident. However, no police complaint was made in the matter.

Vikrant Suri, Principal, Tender Heart School, said motorists were often seen driving recklessly on this particular road, following which he had been writing to the UT Administration and the police to either construct speed breakers or install rumble strips on the road.

“I have been raising the issue for the past around 15 years. However, the authorities concerned have failed to act,” he added.
