Woman killed, husband injured in road mishap two days after wedding

Two days after their wedding, a couple’s car met with an accident on the Manupur Balahra Road. The woman died in the mishap, while her husband suffered severe injuries.

The woman has been identified as Amardeep Kaur, 21. Her husband, Gurmukh Singh, a resident of Dubali village is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Chandigarh. His condition was said to be critical.

Harkirat Singh, in-charge of Badali Ala Singh police station, said they received information about a car ramming into a tree on the Manupur-Balahra road, following which a team rushed to the spot. The victims were rushed them to the hospital, but Amardeep succumbed to her injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggested that the driver lost control of the car and hit the tree.

The police added that the couple was returning home after visiting Amardeep’s parents when the mishap took place. Her uncle, Kuldeep Singh, that that Gurmukh and Amardeep had gotten married on Sunday.
