Close on the heels of the UN General Assembly announcing December 21 as World Meditation Day, the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) at the PGIMER took up the initiative to spread public awareness about the value of meditation among healthcare workers.

The centre organised meditation sessions at both NINE Auditorium and Yoga Centre with enthusiastic participation of the faculty, staff and students of the institute. More than 150 participants took part in meditation training. Dr Sukhpal Kaur, principal, NINE, welcomed the Yoga Centre team at NINE and thanked Dr Akshay Anand, prof and in-charge, Yoga Centre.

Dr Akshay on his part thanked CCRYN, Delhi, for supporting the preventive health related research and services at the PGI. He also briefed about the theory and practice of meditation and its health and social benefits.

Dr Monika Gautam, research officer at the Yoga Centre, conducted a session of ‘Nadanusandhan meditation’ with breath awareness at NINE and MSRT at Yoga Centre. The sessions lasted for 20 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively. She informed the attendees about the therapy services available o and the 20 research projects going on.
