Youth arrested for raping 14-year-old

The police arrested a youth — Parminder Singh Pamma — of Kheda village in Majri tehsil for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl belonging to a Dalit family of Singhpura village today.

The suspect raped the minor at a hotel, in connivance with her aunt, alleged the victim’s mother. Neemo, the aunt of the victim, was arrested earlier, but the suspect was arrested a week after public outrage in the area. Residents alleged that police was pressuring the victim’s family to settle for a compromise and delaying the arrest of the youth, who is a relative of a local politician.

A rape case has been registered against the suspect.
