A case has been registered after a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing six unidentified youths assaulting another youth with rods and sharp-edged weapons outside a grocery store in Baltana market on Saturday.

The police have booked the accused under charges of voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful restraint. However, both the victim and the attackers remain unidentified. Authorities are currently scanning CCTV ootage from the area to identify and apprehend those involved.

Zirakpur DSP Jaspinder Singh said, “On the complaint of Head Constable Ramandeep Singh, a case under Sections 115(2), 126, 190 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the Zirakpur police station on Sunday.”

Residents of the area expressed growing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation.
