A 23-year-old youth died and another injured in a collision between two cars at Saneta on the Landran-Banur highway.

Deceased Jaskirat Singh, a resident of Kheda Gaju, is son of ASI Jasvir Singh of Punjab Police. Jaskirat had completed his college studies this year and was preparing to go abroad for higher education.

The victim was returning home in a car with his friend Ranjodh Singh, a resident of Banur, after attending a function. Ranjodh was driving the car and Jaskirat was in the front passenger seat. While they were turning towards Kheda Gaju from Saneta, a speeding car coming from the opposite side hit their vehicle and sped away.

Jaskirat was seriously injured in the accident and immediately taken to the Phase 6 Government Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Ranjodh also sustained injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Police outpost Saneta in-charge Burma Singh said the body had been handed over to the victim’s kin after conducting a postmortem examination.

A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the other car.
