The police have arrested Harjinder Singh, alias Ravinder Singh, of Khudda Jassu here for making threat calls to Punjabi singer Mankirat Singh Aulakh. The police said he was arrested from Delhi International Airport while he was trying to flee abroad.

"The suspect had lived in Italy for the past sometime and was trying to flee abroad. He has been taken into custody and more revelations are likely," said police officials.

A case under Sections 318 (5) and 351 (2) of the BNS was registered at the Mataur police station on August 21.

Aulakh had received repeated threat calls from unknown numbers on his management's phone number in the form of voice calls and WhatsApp messages. The caller, who was speaking in Punjabi, even threatened his family members by sending pictures of Aulakh's home and vehicles.

The singer had got threat calls from gangsters earlier also.
