The local police have recovered the body of a 28-year-old man from Pinjore, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing from Chandigarh. The deceased, identified as Rajiv Guga, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, had been kidnapped on August 9 and later murdered allegedly over a love affair.

According to officials, Rajiv had gone with his sister to the IT Park area in Chandigarh when the accused lured him away. His body was found buried in the forest area of Pinjore.

Since his disappearance, the Chandigarh Police had been treating the matter as a missing person case.

The breakthrough came when the Panchkula crime branch unearthed the body following the interrogation of the suspects.

Rajiv’s family confirmed his identity, though the police say a forensic examination will also be conducted.

It is suspected that Rajiv had been in a relationship with a woman, which reportedly angered another man who was also engaged to her. This rivalry allegedly led to the crime.

Police sources confirmed that Rajiv’s mobile location had last been traced to IT Park. His father, Ram Guga, had lodged a complaint with the Manimajra police station the same evening.
