Zirakpur: A foetus was found in the Sukhna choe Friday. Bhola, a resident of Yadavindra Colony, said he found the foetus in the choe near a marriage palace and informed the police. Cops kept the body in the mortuary of Dera Bassi Civil Hospital for next 72 hours. TNS

28-yr-old dies in hit-and-run

Mohali:A 28-year-old girl died while her brother sustained injuries after being hit by an unidentified vehicle at the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway on the night of August 15. The victim, identified as Shruti Gandhi of Mansa, and her brother Ishu Gandhi had come to meet their niece in Zirakpur. The group was hit by an unidentified vehicle near VIP Road. The victim was rushed to PGI, where doctors declared her dead. TNS

Delhi resident booked for rape

Zirakpur: The police have registered a case against Kabir, a resident of Delhi, for raping a Boileauganj girl on the pretext of marriage a few months ago. The girl complained to the Shimla police, after which her zero FIR was sent to Zirakpur police station. In her complaint, the girl stated that she met the suspect on social media and became friends with him. He asked her to come to Zirakpur to solemnise a marriage but later backtracked from the promise. TNS

Sector 41 gets new park

Chandigarh: Mayor Kuldeep Kumar on Saturday dedicated a park in Sector 41-B here. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the park would be beneficial to children, youth and elderly people as it was equipped with a gym, huts, benches and footpath. TNS

Blood donation camp organised

Chandigarh: As many as 114 units were collected during the 58th blood donation camp organised by Jiyo aur Jeevan Do in association with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, GMCH, Sector 32, at a dharamshala in Sector 22-C here on August 15. There were several first-time donors. Registration for organ and eye donation was also done on the occasion. Certificates and mementos were given to all donors. TNS
