Heavy rainfall on Thursday lashed Zirakpur, leading to widespread waterlogging and severe disruption across the region.

One of the most affected areas is the Maya Garden Phase 2 housing society, where a retaining wall collapsed amid continuous downpour, triggering safety and security concerns for residents.

The wall collapse has worsened the situation in the township located along VIP Road, which is now heavily flooded.

Residents report that the breach has allowed stray animals and even wild creatures such as snakes to enter the society premises, raising serious concerns about health and safety.

In 2023, too, a wall had similarly collapsed, prompting residents to come together and fund its reconstruction themselves.

Despite their efforts, no aid or intervention was received from local authorities at the time. With the wall now down again, frustrated residents are calling on the administration to take urgent, long-overdue action to prevent further damage and protect the community.

Meanwhile, locals across Zirakpur continue to struggle with submerged roads, damaged properties, and traffic disruptions as the monsoon shows no signs of letting up.
