India’s Covid fatality rate today dropped to 2.23 per cent, touching the lowest level since April 1 even as cases crossed 15 lakh and recoveries neared 10 lakh. Overall, the Covid cases today touched 15,31,669, just two days after crossing the 14-lakh mark. Over the last 24 hours, 48,513 fresh cases have been reported.

The death rate has been declining progressively with 35,286 patients getting discharged in the last 24 hours and the total recoveries rising to 9,88,029. The recovery rate has reached a high of 64.51 per cent amongst Covid patients.

With consistent improvement in recoveries, the gap between recovered patients and active cases now stands at 4,78,582.

Meanwhile, with 4,08,855 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the cumulative testing has crossed 1.77 crore. — TNS
