And when the question is directed at a male leader, it’s almost unheard of.
Chandigarh-born cricketer and World Cup winner Harleen Deol, 27, did exactly that—leaving Prime Minister Narendra Modi momentarily stumped.
“Sir, I have to ask you a question about your skincare routine,” Harleen said mischievously, before adding with a grin, “You glow too much.” Her remark sent the entire ODI World Cup-winning Indian women’s team into laughter.
Caught off guard, the Prime Minister smiled and replied, “I haven’t thought about it much. I have the blessings of so many people. It’s been 25 years in power—being head of the government has its own effect.”
Head coach Amol Muzumdar quickly jumped in, saying, “Sir, you’ve seen the kind of questions I have to deal with. It’s been two years as head coach—'baal safed ho gaye mere' (my hair has turned grey answering such questions)!”
PM Modi met the triumphant Indian women’s cricket team at his residence on Wednesday. The video of the interaction was released on Thursday, showcasing moments of laughter and camaraderie.
The Prime Minister lauded the players for their “remarkable resilience and comeback” in clinching the ICC ODI World Cup 2025, where India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final held recently in Mumbai.
