KL Rahul was a silent warrior in the Champions Trophy 2025, excelling under pressure and proving his worth in multiple roles. Facing constant scrutiny over his place in the XI ahead of Rishabh Pant as the team’s wicketkeeper-batter, Rahul delivered consistent performances both behind the stumps and with the bat in crucial situations. His sharp decision-making and clarity in signalling reviews played a big role in helping captain Rohit Sharma with DRS calls.

But when asked by ICC presenter Sanjana Ganesan, who also happens to be the wife of India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, about the “fun” aspect of keeping to India’s formidable spinners, Rahul replied, “Not fun, Sanjana! I have had to squat 200-250 times when these spinners are bowling,” eliciting laughter from the presenter.

Rahul added, “They are high-quality. The pitches obviously assisted them a bit, which made them even more dangerous. That makes it even more challenging for me behind the stumps. The way they have bowled, the way they have used those conditions have been phenomenal.”
