A court sentenced a 28-year-old youth to life imprisonment after having found him guilty of murdering his minor wife. As per the case file, the then 22-year-old Dharmendra, a resident of Charhauli, District Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, kidnapped a minor girl, Karan Kaur, in 2018 and forcibly married her.

After marriage the relations between them strained over some petty issues. On the night of January 28, 2019, he strangulated her to death with a dupatta. The police recovered the body after two days. An FIR was registered against him and he was arrested.
