The Gurugram police have arrested a person for blackmailing a man and threatening to implicate a man in a false case. The accused had demanded extortion from the victim. The police have recovered Rs 94,000 in cash from him. He was produced in a city court and later sent to judicial custody.

According to the complaint filed by a local, his neighbour Chandan Jha claimed that his father was assaulting his daughter.

“Chandan demanded Rs 1 lakh and threatened that if I did not give him the money, he would tell everyone about it, which would cause social disgrace. Out of fear, I gave him Rs 1 lakh. On July 25, he again demanded Rs 3 lakh and then I approached the police,” he said.

An FIR was registered.
