According to the police, the boy was reportedly addicted to playing games on mobile phone.

Upon examining the mobile phone recovered from the spot, it was found that the child had spent nearly 10 to 11 hours on the device — around seven hours playing a game and four hours watching content on YouTube.

The boy, a student at an MCD School in Nangloi, lived with his parents.

His father told the police that on July 31, the day of the incident, the boy stayed home due to heavy rainfall.

Both parents left for work in the morning. When they returned in the evening, they found their son hanging from a pipe in the house. No external injuries were found on the child’s body.

The police said they were probing multiple angles, including whether the boy’s actions were linked to parental scolding, school-related pressure or frustration over the mobile game.

A probe is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
