An 11-year-old boy drowned while bathing with three friends in Shakti Sarovar lake in North Delhi’s Burari area, the police said on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, North district, Manoj Kumar Meena, said the boys, aged between 11 and 12, had gone to the lake for a swim when two of them began to drown. The other two, who were in the shallower part of the lake, managed to escape and alerted locals.

Despite efforts to rescue the two boys, one was declared dead upon arrival at Burari Hospital. Following the incident, a crime team visited the site to collect evidence, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate was notified. The police have initiated legal proceedings in connection with the case.
