A 17-year-old girl was shot at by a youth in Shyam Colony, under the jurisdiction of city Ballabhgarh police station, on Monday evening. The bullet hit her shoulder and she was admitted to hospital in a critical condition. The police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

According to police, the victim, Kanishka, is a resident of Shyam Colony and attends a nearby coaching centre. The shooting occurred around 5 pm near her home, with one bullet grazing her shoulder and another her abdomen. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack. The police recovered the weapon used in the crime from the spot.

Initial investigations revealed that the girl recognised the accused, who is said to have attended the same coaching centre as her. “The injured girl has been hospitalised for treatment. Police and the crime branch are making efforts to trace the absconding accused,” said a spokesperson of the police.
