Gurugram Cyber Police have arrested two accused for cheating people by sending links to a fake RTO website on WhatsApp. Two mobile phones were recovered from their possession. Both were produced in a city court today and remanded to judicial custody.

According to the police, on August 27, a man lodged a complaint stating that he had received a link to a fake RTO website on WhatsApp. After clicking on it, his phone was hacked and money was withdrawn from his bank account. Following an FIR, the Cyber Crime East team arrested two accused from Bhiwadi in Rajasthan on Thursday.

The accused were identified as Pawan (33) and Vicky (28), residents of Alwar district, Rajasthan. Investigation revealed that both are graduates. Pawan runs an e-Mitra shop in Bhiwadi and Rs 4 lakh of the defrauded amount in this case was transferred to his account.

“During interrogation, it was revealed that accused Pawan sold this bank account to accused Vicky for a commission of 10 per cent of the transferred amount. Vicky then sold the account to another person for a commission of 20 per cent,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP Cyber.
