According to the cops, the incident took place on the intervening night of October 30 and 31. Around 1.27 am, a distress call was received at Lajpat Nagar police station from a 35-year-old woman journalist, who reported that two men, on a two-wheeler, were following her and had damaged her car near the Lajpat Nagar flyover.

The journalist, who works as a producer with a private news channel, was returning home from Noida after work.

On the Mahamaya Flyover, around 12.45 am, she overtook a two-wheeler, after which its riders allegedly began to tail her and tried to confront her. Sensing danger, she did not stop and instead drove for a busier area. Once she reached near the Lajpat Nagar flyover, she immediately called the police helpline number 112, a police officer said.

A police team was dispatched to the location within minutes and upon preliminary enquiry, it was found that the matter fell under the Sun Light Colony police station’s jurisdiction. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the official mentioned.

CCTV footage from the route and nearby areas was examined, and inputs from local sources were developed. Within hours, both the suspects were identified and detained, the official added.

They were later found to have been previously involved in an Arms Act case.
