Notably, two accused, Jatin (24), who was involved in planning the attack and provided the motorcycle used in the crime, and Ishu (19), one of the three assailants, were already arrested by the Haryana Police.

Amit Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell, NR), said they got a tip-off that the accused were regrouping for another targeted killing in Delhi on the instructions of Neeraj Faridpuria-Himanshu Bhau gang.

Acting on the input, a trap was laid near Khera Canal, Shahbad Dairy, Outer North Delhi, on Sunday afternoon, Kaushik mentioned.

When intercepted, one of them pulled out a pistol and tried to fire at the team, but was overpowered, the cop said.

During interrogation, both admitted to working on the instructions of the Neeraj Faridpuria- Himanshu Bahu gang, who had arranged funds, weapons and logistics for the Gurugram attack.

The DCP said after the Gurugram incident, the shooters attempted to flee towards the Indo-Nepal border, but were instructed by gang leader to return for a fresh assignment in Delhi.

The police have launched a manhunt for gang members and handlers involved in the shooting and are also trying to trace associates and financiers of the gang.

Notably, investigators believe that Neeraj Faridpuria runs the Bambiha gang, an arch rival of the Lawrance Bishnoi gang. The gang is comparatively new in the list of gangs active in the Delhi-NCR and is believed to be supported by the Himanshu Bhau gang.
