New Delhi, February 7

In a significant development, three elected members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) have switched sides, joining the Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi State led by DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka.

Former Secretary General of the DSGMC, Gurmeet Singh Shunty, who was previously aligned with Paramjit Singh Sarna, has also joined hands with Kalka. Sarna and Kalka are currently leading rival factions within Sikh politics in the Capital.

The three elected members, Gurpreet Singh Khanna, Parmjit Singh Khurana and Inderpreet Singh Kochar, previously associated with the Sarna-led Shiromani Akali Dal-Delhi, have now pledged their allegiance to Kalka’s faction. Their move has stirred controversy, prompting calls from Sarna for their resignation from elected posts and the seeking of a fresh mandate from the community.

At a press meet today, DSGMC President Kalka, accompanied by DSGMC Secretary General Jagdip Singh Kahlon, welcomed the three members into their fold, emphasising their commitment to serving the Sikh community. Kalka outlined their focus on initiatives in the realms of religion, health, medical facilities and education.
