The shooting, police say, was part of a revenge attack linked to an earlier firing involving the victims’ brother.
The accused — Ravi (22), Hitesh (22), and Ashish (31) — are friends and allegedly targeted the sisters to retaliate against Aman, alias Razzi, brother of the complainant. Around three months ago, Ravi had filed a case against Aman at the Dwarka South police station, according to officials.
The incident took place on June 1 when the woman, a resident of Sector 7, Dwarka, was confronted and shot at by Ravi during a scuffle. Her sister was also present at the time. “The trio, along with another accomplice, Monu, not only assaulted the women but also opened fire, injuring the complainant,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel.
During confrontation, locals managed to nab Ashish and seize his motorcycle, while Ravi, Hitesh, and Monu fled the spot.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and investigators used technical surveillance to track the fugitives.
“Ravi was using encrypted apps and random hotspot networks to avoid detection. His last location was traced to Manali in Himachal Pradesh,” Goel said. A police team dispatched to Manali discovered that Ravi and Hitesh had boarded a bus back to Delhi. The two were intercepted and apprehended at Murthal in Haryana.
During interrogation, Ravi confessed to firing at the women using an illegal pistol, which was later recovered from a friend’s house in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. He is also linked to at least three other criminal cases, including one for attempted murder.
Monu, the fourth accused, remains absconding. A manhunt is underway, and further investigation is ongoing, the police added.
