The Gurugram police have arrested four men for attacking a group of bikers on Dwarka Expressway. All the accused, who were in an SUV, were arrested near the Kherki Daula toll plaza on Tuesday evening.
In a video released by the Gurugram police, the accused said they had made a mistake, and that they would not repeat it in future.
A senior police official said the preliminary police investigation revealed that the accused had come for a ride in the SUV when following a verbal spat between the motorcycle riders and the accused, the latter thrashed one of the bikers.
The accused were identified as Bhanu Sharma (31), Deepak Singh (24), Pragya Sharma (23) and Rajat Singh (24), all residents of Delhi.
“The accused revealed that they committed the crime in anger. Bhanu runs a gym in Delhi, where accused Deepak works as a trainer. Pragya runs a business. They are all being questioned,” said Sector 37 police station SHO Inspector Shahid Ahmad.
However, the accused have been finally arrested, but the complainant, Hardik Sharma, was raising delay in their arrest. He claims that he had provided the details and social media accounts of the attackers to the police with the help of AI tools.
Hardik said his motorcycle costed Rs 11 lakh, and they had damaged the vehicle and accessories worth Rs 3 to 4 lakh. The damage ranges up to around Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakh and he also wants them to pay for the damage to his vehicle.
“They were driven by ego, otherwise none of us know each other. They were fully drunk and first, they started beating up Gaurav, then they thrashed Abhinav as well. They then attacked me on the head with a baseball bat and also damaged my vehicle. I wouldn’t have survived had I not worn a helmet,” said Hardik.
A senior police official said they were questioning the accused, but the police had not yet clarified whether the accused were in an inebriated condition.
