Mobile data recovered from 67 cyber criminals arrested by the Gurugram cyber police over the past few months has revealed that the accused defrauded nearly 25,000 people of over Rs 106 crore.

“Of the total cases, 48 have been registered in Haryana,” ACP Dewan said. “Investigations have shown the accused lured victims through fake social media profiles, sextortion, investment scams and impersonation of officials.”

Police officials said they recovered Rs 88.15 lakh in cash from the accused, adding further investigation is underway.
