Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the city’s first hotline maintenance van at Shalimar Bagh here on Saturday.

The hotline maintenance vehicle — the first-of-its-kind in the country — will allow technicians to carry out repairs and maintenance on live lines without shutting down electricity.

“This modern vehicle will be deployed in every Assembly constituency to ensure reliable power supply for citizens,” Gupta said.

The CM also inaugurated an underground cabling project on the occasion. The underground cabling project, carried out in partnership with Tata Power-DDL, replaced the 33 KV overhead conductor from Shalimar Bagh Khosla Grid to Netaji Subhash Place Circuit.

Officials said the new network is expected to reduce the outages caused by weather conditions, eliminate the clutter of overhead wires and enhance the city’s aesthetics.

The CM also inaugurated new underground reservoirs, booster pumps and tube wells in Shalimar Bagh, costing about Rs 65 lakh, and announced the installation of high-mast and pole lights worth Rs 97 lakh. She said 44,000 conventional street lights in Delhi were being replaced with LEDs and the city will be “fully lit before Diwali.”

Gupta laid the foundation stone of a new PM Shri School in Haiderpur — the first senior secondary school in the area with science and English medium education. A new community hall for Haiderpur was also approved.

Other projects included the widening of a key road in Singalpur village, construction of a new yoga centre and inspection of the Rs 12-crore road project linking Ring Road near Guru Gobind Singh College.

Gupta further announced that the Delhi Government will take over maintenance of the Munak Canal, with barricading, cleaning and construction of proper ghats before Diwali and Chhath Puja. A Rs 5,000-crore road project along the canal, supported by the Centre, is also underway.

“These projects reflect our government’s top priorities — water, electricity, roads, education and sanitation — and reaffirm our commitment to building a ‘Viksit Delhi, Viksit Bharat’,” the CM said.
