AAP, BJP failed to fulfil promises, says Delhi Congress chief Yadav

The first phase of Delhi Nyay Yatra, launched by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on November 8, which covered 15 Assembly segments, concluded on November 12.

Devender Yadav, president, DPCC, said the the yatra received overwhelming response from the residents.

He said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to deliver on their promises in the past 11 years.

“The people are pouring their hearts out about struggles they face under the misrule of AAP and the BJP. We saw pain in their eyes and their state of helplessness,” said Yadav at a press conference today. The month-long yatra, which would cover all 70 Assembly seats, would be conducted in four phases. The second phase is set to begin on November 15 from Gokulpur in the trans-Yamuna area, covering 16 segments before culminating at the DDA ground in Dilshad Garden.

Senior Congress leaders, including Chattar Singh, Jagjivan Sharma and Sidhartha Rao would join the yatra alongside other top party leaders.

Yadav described the interaction with Delhi residents as a “confidence-boosting experience” for the Congress workers. “It is evident that the people want the Congress back in power. Only the Congress government can solve their problems and ensure development,” he added.

“It is heartbreaking to see how much the city has declined since the Congress left. The people are now struggling to make ends meet,” he said.

During the yatra, the Congress leaders and workers engaged with street vendors, cobblers, shopkeepers and daily wagers.

Yadav pointed out that poor sanitation, air and water pollution, unemployment, inflated power bills and lack of new ration cards for the poor were main concerns of the residents. “The residents are facing harassment from the police and MCD officials due to the absence of designated vending zones. Their feedback will be implemented when the Congress returns to power,” he said.

“From banana sellers to professionals, everyone has a tale of struggle to narrate. The Delhi Government and the Centre are doing nothing to address key issues,” said Yadav.
