Durgesh Pathak, senior AAP leader said, “It is a grave injustice against a lawyer who has dedicated his life to the welfare of the legal community.” He further alleged that the decision stemmed from political bias due to Nasiar’s support for the AAP.
“Today, the Bar Council of India, an institution responsible for ensuring justice, has committed grave injustice. Sanjeev Nasiar, a renowned lawyer from Delhi who has dedicated his life to the welfare of lawyers, has been punished for his ideological support to the AAP,” Pathak stated.
He added that the complaint against Nasiar, dismissed by the Delhi High Court in August, had been forwarded to the CBI by the BCI without proper procedure and inquiry. “Without issuing notice, calling for clarification, or hearing his side, they decided to remove him. This is entirely against the basic principles of justice,” Pathak said.
Sanjeev Nasiar dismissed the BCI's action, “Today is indeed unfortunate. The Bar Council of India, the largest body for lawyers, has taken an unexpected and unjust action. This order was issued without notice or inquiry, and I have not even received a copy of it,” he said.
AAP has demanded that the BCI immediately withdraw its decision and restore Sanjeev Nasiar to his position.
“I welcome any inquiry by the CBI or any other authority. Every document of mine has already been verified, and the High Court has upheld this. BJP’s attempt to sabotage tomorrow’s thanksgiving program will not succeed. The Bar Council of Delhi is determined to make it a grand success,” he added.
