The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in MCD, Ankush Narang, on Saturday demanded the removal of garbage mountain near Majlis Park Metro Station in the Civil Lines zone and alleged the ruling BJP for creating a fourth landfill instead of eliminating the existing ones.

He claimed that the entire MCD waste is being dumped at this new site under instructions from BJP Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh and Civil Lines Zonal Chairman.

“The stench from this heap has made life unbearable for locals,” the AAP leaders said, calling it a direct betrayal of Delhiites who were promised a cleaner, livable city.

“The BJP used to talk about removing the three existing garbage mountains in Delhi. But now, instead of eliminating them, it has created a fourth one,” he said. “Garbage, silt, and C&D waste are all being dumped here. The MCD is no longer dumping waste to the existing sites, it is building a new dump yard altogether,” he added.

The MCD LoP pointed out that this zone comes under the jurisdiction of Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, who is also the area councillor, and Ward Chairman Gulab Singh Rathore, both from the BJP.

“The Mayor and Chairman are jointly building a new mountain of waste in Majlis Park. When I questioned them about it, they casually responded that it is being done under the ‘CM Kooda Yojana’,” Narang said.
