AAP flays PM for letting down nation on ceasefire

Says women officers led from the front in conflict

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continues its protest against the Central Government over the ceasefire with Pakistan. The party launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the sudden declaration of ceasefire during Operation Sindoor, accusing the Centre of bowing to foreign pressure at a critical moment in India’s military campaign.

At a press conference held at the party headquarters, AAP leaders honoured women officers who played pivotal roles in the operation and announced that ‘bangles would be sent to PM Modi’ as a symbolic protest.

Rakhi Birla, former Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, led the charge, accusing the BJP-led Centre of betraying the nation’s hopes when Indian forces had reportedly made significant advances into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“While our soldiers — men and women — were on the verge of reclaiming PoK, the Modi government suddenly announced a ceasefire without explanation. It shattered the dream of 140 crore Indians,” she said, alleging the decision was made under pressure from the United States.

The AAP women’s wing said it would send bangles to the Prime Minister on Friday, questioning the government’s abrupt withdrawal despite military successes. “If PM Modi has a 56-inch chest, then why retreat under pressure,” Birla asked.

She also criticised BJP leaders for derogatory comments made against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a key figure in Operation Sindoor, and the daughter of the Foreign Secretary.

Highlighting the contribution of women in the recent conflict, Rakhi Birla said, “Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi led with exceptional bravery. They proved that daughters of Bharat Mata are no less than anyone. Their names will go down in history.”

Joining the criticism, former Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi recounted the horrors of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where several women were killed. “Our sisters’ sindoor was wiped away, and in response, Operation Sindoor was launched. Women officers led from the front,” she said, calling on the Centre to seriously invest in women’s empowerment.

Sarika Chaudhary, president of AAP’s Delhi women’s wing, also praised the women officers, saying their participation in Operation Sindoor inspired confidence across the country. “These brave women showed the world that India’s daughters are second to none,” she said.

Calling the ceasefire an “insult” to India’s armed forces, the AAP leaders demanded that the government issue a white paper explaining why it halted military operations without public consultation. They also questioned the role of foreign influence in what they described as a decision that undermined national morale.
