Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari sharply criticised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being the main figure in the Delhi liquor policy scandal. During a press conference in the capital, the BJP MP from North East Delhi alleged that the AAP-led government diverted funds intended for slum area development towards the liquor scam.

Tiwari asserted that the scam represents a historic instance where an entire political party, rather than just individuals, has been accused of looting public funds.

“Until now, we have seen individuals or groups of individuals caught in accusations and major scandals, but today, a new history has been made in Delhi. The Delhi government has committed a liquor scam, and a political party has been directly accused of looting,” said Tiwari. “The Aam Aadmi Party is listed at number 38 in the charge sheet of the investigation agency’s report, accused of being the beneficiary of this loot.”

Highlighting the perceived hypocrisy, Tiwari remarked, “No other party in the country has claimed to be as ‘moral’ as the Aam Aadmi Party, but today that very party has created a ‘unique history of corruption.’”

Tiwari referred to Arvind Kejriwal’s statements about Vijay Nair, a key accused in the liquor scam. “Arvind Kejriwal had said regarding a very important accused in the liquor scam, Vijay Nair, that he reported to Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj. The people of Delhi want to know how Vijay Nair, Kejriwal’s communication advisor, was allotted a government bungalow. His stay there was entirely illegal.”
