The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday postponed the padyatra of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The march, originally scheduled for August 14, will now commence on August 16 at 5 pm from the Greater Kailash constituency.
The change follows recommendations from the Delhi Police, which raised security concerns ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
Delhi Minister and senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj announced the decision, stating that the party had taken the advice of the Police Department into account.
“The police suggested postponing it by two-four days. This advice from the police also seemed reasonable to us,” Bharadwaj said. “Sisodia’s padyatra will now begin from the Greater Kailash assembly constituency on August 16,” Bhardwaj said. Sisodia’s padyatra was highly anticipated as his first major public engagement following his release from jail after 17 months. — TNS
