On the first day of the New Year, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva penned an open letter to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, urging him to abandon “dishonest and deceitful political practices”. Along with extending New Year greetings, Sachdeva wished Kejriwal good health and a long life.

Highlighting the tradition of New Year’s resolutions, Sachdeva called on Kejriwal to leave behind “bad habits” and embrace positive change. He urged the AAP leader to resolve to meet Delhiites’ expectations by bringing integrity to his politics.

He listed five resolutions he hoped Kejriwal would adopt in 2025, beginning with an appeal to stop “taking false oaths on your children”, referencing Kejriwal’s past claims about his personal and political promises. Sachdeva also urged Kejriwal to “stop playing with the sentiments of Delhi’s women, elders and religious communities by making false promises”, which he said had caused widespread disillusionment among residents.

Additionally, Sachdeva called on Kejriwal to “apologise to Delhiites for encouraging alcohol consumption”, pointing to the controversial liquor policy implemented by the AAP government.

He also urged Kejriwal to acknowledge failures in cleaning the Yamuna river and address corruption linked to the project.

Finally, Sachdeva urged the AAP leader to “resolve not to associate with or accept donations from anti-national forces for political gains”, a reference to accusations made by the BJP regarding the sources of funding for Kejriwal’s party.

Concluding his letter, Sachdeva expressed hope that Kejriwal would work to improve Delhiites’ lives by prioritising honesty. “May God give you the strength to walk on the path of righteousness,” he wrote.
