A total of 20 individuals, including officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation as well as contractor Satbir Singh, have been charged in connection with the scam.
According to official sources, the ACB may file a supplementary challan against two IAS officers pending necessary government permissions.
It was alleged that in 2017, MC officers and employees, in collusion with contractor, processed 46 fake bills without carrying out any work such as interlocking tiles, stone metal supply, repair of drains and construction of culverts in 11 wards of Ballabgarh in Faridabad. The scam facilitated illicit payments to the contractor’s firms.
An FIR was registered on June 16, 2022, under several sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. After a detailed investigation, the ACB filed a chargesheet in the district court on Wednesday, naming 20 accused, including senior engineers, superintendents, auditors, and clerks from various branches.
