​Air hostess alleges rape by private hospital staff while on ventilator in Gurugram

A 46-year-old air hostess alleged she was raped by a hospital staff member while on a ventilator in the ICU of a renowned private hospital in Gurugram. An FIR was registered at the Sadar police station based on her complaint. According to the complaint, the air hostess had been admitted to the hospital after falling ill during a training session at a hotel. She claimed that while on a ventilator, she was sexually assaulted by some hospital staff. After being discharged, she informed her husband about the incident and they approached the police.

The police have recorded the victim’s statement before a magistrate and are examining the hospital’s CCTV footage to identify the accused. A probe is underway, and the accused will be arrested soon. This incident is not the first of its kind in Gurugram’s private hospitals. In July last year, a 51-year-old Kazakhastan woman was raped by an attendant in a private hospital, and the accused was later arrested. A similar incident occurred in October 2020, where a 21-year-old tuberculosis patient was allegedly raped by a staff member while on a ventilator in the ICU.
