Assembly’s 100-day report card to be released on June 6: Speaker

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Monday announced that a report highlighting the achievements of the first 100 days of the 8th Delhi Legislative Assembly will be released on June 6.

Speaking to the media, Gupta emphasised that the Assembly has functioned with a clear vision centered on development, heritage and institutional reform.

“Delhi’s 8th Vidhan Sabha is about to complete its first 100 days. We’ve worked with a clear vision in this period, focusing on both development and heritage. We have connected the Assembly with our culture, our heritage and our roots,” he said.

The upcoming report card will document key milestones, legislative decisions and institutional reforms undertaken since the new government took charge. Gupta said the document would serve as both a historical record and a reflection of the assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability and reform-driven governance.

In a notable departure from previous practices, Gupta shared that the Assembly has already conducted two full sessions within this period —compared to the earlier trend of holding just one session annually. Over the course of 12 sittings, the House clocked 46 hours and 16 minutes of legislative business, making it the most active session in 25 years. On multiple occasions, proceedings extended beyond regular hours, continuing until 7 pm — another first in the 35-year history of the Delhi Assembly.

Gupta also revealed plans to overhaul the Rules of Procedure of the House, aligning them with those of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. “A draft is ready, and the first meeting of the Rules Committee will be held on June 5. We will make our rules on a par with the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha,” he stated.

As part of this reform, the rules will be revised to incorporate gender-neutral language and simplified terminology. Gupta further announced the formation of two new committees — Committee of Welfare of Senior Citizens and Committee of Welfare of Transgenders — with specific rules. The last major amendment to the rules was made in 2017.
