Assistant professor held for molesting medical student at GTB Hospital

An MBBS student alleged that an Assistant Professor of the Anesthesia Department at the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) molested her on the pretext of conducting viva exam.
According to the complaint, after taking the class, the accused, Dr Mohammad Shakir Naeem, allegedly lured the student to a secluded spot for her viva and attempted to molest her on September 26.
When she resisted, he allegedly threatened her. The victim immediately confided in her classmate, following which a formal complaint was lodged at the GTB Enclave police station. Based on her statement, a case was registered under Sections 74, 75, and 351(2) of the BNS.
After learning about the FIR, the Assistant Professor absconded. However, using technical surveillance, the police arrested him from Rewari. He was later produced in the court, which sent him to judicial custody.
The police have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to gather evidence. The authorities are also probing whether the accused has harassed any other students in the past.
