“I am heartbroken to say that this situation is not natural calamity — this is a direct result of administrative negligence. Mismanagement by four-engine BJP government has not only submerged Delhi roads, but also caused water crisis in Kalkaji,” she mentioned in the letter.

“People, who are travelling for celebrating Raksha Bandhan, remained stuck in traffic jams for hours due to your government’s apathy,” the letter read.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj also criticised the BJP Government for allowing Delhi to drown on Raksha Bandhan.

“Sisters visit homes of their brothers to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Since morning, the entire city has been waterlogged, with knee-deep water on roads, vehicles breaking down and massive traffic jams. The festival has been ruined. In Badarpur’s Jaitpur, waterlogging led to a wall collapse, killing three men, two women and two children. Can the government bring them back to life?” he asked.

Bharadwaj also posted on X a photograph of CM Rekha Gupta being garlanded at an event, saying, “On Raksha Bandhan, a wall collapsed in Delhi’s Jaitpur due to heavy rain and waterlogging. The BJP government has become a curse for Delhiites. A 2.5-year-old child has also died after drowning in an open sewer. Think about the destruction this incompetent government has brought. I told CM Rekha Gupta on Saturday morning that opening manholes during rain is a dangerous shortcut.”
