Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced that her government had released Rs 5 crore as financial assistance for families affected by the devastating floods in Punjab.

She also wrote to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, assuring him that Delhi stood like a family with the people of Punjab in this time of crisis.

Gupta, on social media platform X, said, “Today, the Delhi Government has released financial assistance of Rs 5 crore to help the families affected by the devastating floods in Punjab. Along with this, I have written a letter to the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, assuring him that the Delhi Government and every Delhi resident stands with the brothers and sisters of Punjab like a family in this difficult time. This assistance amount is a symbol of the affection and warmth from every Delhi resident. I am confident that this contribution will help bring the lives of the affected families back to normalcy. The Delhi government is committed to providing all possible support to the Punjab government. Let us all pray together that the situation in Punjab improves soon and happiness and smiles return to every home.”

In her letter to Mann, the Delhi CM expressed solidarity with the flood-hit state, writing, “I am writing this letter to express my deepest condolences and solidarity with the people of Punjab affected by the devastating floods. This disaster is huge, and it is clear that the road to recovery will be long and challenging. In this difficult time, the Delhi Government would like to extend its support and helping hand. To bolster the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts, the Delhi Government is contributing Rs 5 crore to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.”

On Sunday, the Delhi Government had also dispatched 52 trucks carrying relief supplies, including food grains, drinking water, medicines, clothes, tarpaulins and other essential items, for the flood-affected areas of Punjab.
