Engineer strangles wife to death, dies by suicide in Gurugram

A software engineer allegedly strangled his software engineer wife to death after a quarrel and then died by suicide, by hanging himself at a residential society in Sector 37. The accused had sent a video to a friend, saying he was going to die by suicide.

The police reached the flat to find both dead. The family of the deceased woman alleged murder. Based on the complaint of the deceased woman’s brother an FIR of murder was registered against her deceased husband at the Sector 10 A Police Station.

According to the police, the deceased couple was identified as Ajay Kumar (30), a native of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, and Sweety Sharma (28), a native of Asansol in Bengal. They had a love marriage three years ago and worked at an IT firm in Gurugram. Sweety was working from home these days. For the last two years, the couple was living on the 13th floor of Tower 7 of Millennium City Society in Sector 37.

The police have kept the bodies in the mortuary. The cause behind the couple’s quarrel has not been ascertained yet.

“As per the complaint, an FIR of murder has been registered and a probe is underway. The postmortem will be conducted tomorrow,” the SHO concerned said.
